On the Tonepad schematic for the Corral Chorus, there is a symbol for a Zener diode. http://www.tonepad.com/getFileInfo.asp?id=101 The parts list says RD11EB. WTF? I have no Idea what this is. Could I use a 9.1 v zener in it's place? From the schematic , it looks like polarity protection. Please help! This is the last component that I have to solder before testing. I await your responses!
Thanks
Sean
It is an 11 Volt zener.
It is indeed polarity- as well as high voltage protection.
Since a fresh 9V battery gives way over 9V you cannot use a 9.1 V zener.
You can leave it out if you know what you're doing.

Just use a 1N4001/4002 and that will be reverse protection enough !

Ditto, Sean. It's not wholly useless, but it is not essential to functioning. Just helpful for functioning for a long time. Get the pedal up and working, and when you come into one of those zeners, install it.
