Title: Neovibe Light Shield Question

I am gonna try the metal box light shield, and am just curious as to why the .pdf file says to put the photocells parallel to the board?

Does this mean they face up or down?  Or will it be better just to make them face the bulb?

In close proximity would be best, and of course shielded from any other light.
