Title: Where to find DIP8 sockets
Post by: DasFishy on March 14, 2007, 10:31:12 PM
I'm having trouble finding the DIP8 socket that the transistor plugs into for the beginner project.  No radioshacks in my area seem to even be able to order them, and I can't find them on SmallBear.  Any advice on where I should be looking?  Also, I could build it without the DIP8; that would just mean that I couldn't switch out the transistors easily, correct?  Thanks for the help.

Heres One (http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2062604&cp=2032058&f=Taxonomy%2FRSK%2F2032058&categoryId=2032058&kwCatId=2032058&kw=socket&parentPage=search) Or This (http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2062605&cp=2032058&f=Taxonomy%2FRSK%2F2032058&categoryId=2032058&kwCatId=2032058&kw=socket&parentPage=search)
I know my local RS store sells these. There not the greatest but in a pinch you can cut them
With side cutters and make it work.
Small Bear has These (http://www.smallbearelec.com/Detail.bok?no=101) I'm sure this is more what you want.
Hope that helped and welcome to the forum

The place where I got my parts from didnt have 'DIP8' sockets either, but I found normal IC sockets which were the same thing.
