Title: Noob Instrument Cable question

Ok, quick question on instrument cables.  Do I solder the shield to ground on both ends of the cable?  Or do I solder just one a la shielded cable w/effects.  I searched and searched but didn't find anything specific.  Am I retarded?  Thanks in advance.

PM sent but you need the braid/shield connected at both ends to complete the circut.
