How about Bourns (http://www.bourns.com/pdfs/PEC11.pdf)? Especially if you can get the knurled shaft as opposed to the d-shaft. I've had a hell of a time finding attractive d-shaft knobs that are suitable for encoders. They all have indicators of some sort.
The replacement for the mysterious encoder listed by Spinsemi and as seen on their demo PCBs seems to be Grayhill's series 25L 4-bit binary Code Hexadecimal 16-position Digikey's part #GH3074-ND:

How I came to this conclusion? I compared the output table of the binary switch from the development board...

...with the output table of Grayhill's one. They matched. Pins on the demo PCB matched as well. First 8 positions of the encoder /clockwise/ should switch between internal programs, the rest 8 positions between external /RAM/ programs. Cheers!

I'm ok with a push-on, but the cap would have to be glued on and that's just one more thing to deal with. That's the way the Re'An knobs were (Figure A1 on this page (http://www.mouser.com/catalog/631/1589.pdf) but recently discontinued). Selco's appear very similar. They're ok, but they leave about a 2-3mm gap between the skirt and the box, so you can't really mount the encoder on the box.

Those look great, but they're a wee bit pricey for me. I want a soft-touch 6mm/4.5mm d-shaft and I want it for $.50US. :icon_confused: Oh, and I want it now. ;D
