This is my first project build, thank you for the time and effort put in to the comprehensive instructions.
Please can someone point me in the direction of someway of understanding how this works, and other similar effects?

no idea how this works, cause its an IC circuit (still gotta read up on them!), but beavis audio has a ton of neat articles... here's one showing how a simple NPN booster works
