That looks very interesting. A lot of modeling guitars have some sort of piezo or pickup that gets the bare string sound. Getting real wood involved makes a lot of sense.
Unfortunately it's all research and as far as I know you cannot buy it anywhere. I wouldn't mind contributing to that kind of research ;D.
