Anyone else getting this????
Aron
Got it earlier. Thought the site was down.
Worked 15 minutes later ;D
I don't like it!!!!!
What happened was that the service I was using was "migrated" to another service. Now we are getting these types of errors. I might have to switch yet again.
Yeah, I've got it a few times over the last week. Scary.
"You have reach the end of the internet, please click on 'back'...."
I've been getting them too every now and then since the change.
about one in 20 requests.
Haven't seen it yet. Though I had some problem reaching the site after the switch, like for two days, but I think that there was some extreme lag in the DNS propagation. I'm good now.
I got it earlier too, though like Perrow it has abated. Glad to know it was shared by others and not a byproduct of something at work.
I got that message SEVERAL times earlier this week and I even got some error 404 pages (like the website was down).
Yeah, I'm getting that error randomly.
Aron, is the site on shared hosting?
Mike
I've had it a few times, I presumed a bandwidth problem.
yes, 2 times, just a few minutes ago...
Maarten
A few nights ago I got it. I was back on the next day when I tried.
only for a couple of seconds, twice yesterday
I have gotten RESOURCE LIMIT REACHED a couple of times plus timeouts on attempts to load some pages.
the occurences have been less in the last 3 days or so.
Only one time, yesterday. Browsing was relatively slow yesterday.
Couldn't reach it on tapatalk or via web about two hours ago (from sweden that is), browser told me "site might be offline or moved" message.
Not gotten it. But, I have not been on the site much this week. Others may be able to help better but contact me if you would like info for another hosting service. The one I use has been very reliable for 10+ years.
It seems if you have multiple windows open - you can get resource limit reached or other errors. Not good. Anyone here have a VPS account?
ive had this today twice... and sometimes its really slow to load.... :)
Is the VPS account way more stable?
Just had it happen on my iPhone. The full message reads:
Resource Limit Is Reached
The website is temporarily unable to service your request as it exceeded resource limit. Please try again later.
I am by no means an expert on this, but based on a google search for this message, the provider has X clients per server and when a client's site is very active, the service curtails activity to avoid affectIng other clients. A good provider will move more active clients around to servers with fewer clients. An unscrupulous provider will try to get you to pay more for an upgraded service.

It depends. With a VPS, you have to buy a package that includes what you need. I imagine this site is like mine-- really CPU/disk intensive, but not a whole heck of a lot of bandwidth. Unfortunately, most hosts don't make it easy, and sell on generic ram/disk space/bandwidth, which really doesn't help forum owners.
If this site has been running on shared hosting, and has been running as well as it seems to have been, you've been lucky. I was lucky with my site for about 8 years, and had a host who supported my cause, and gave me way more resources than I paid for. He vanished into the night, and I've been on VPS ever since. 8x the price, and a similar increase in complexity.
I would simply ask your host which resource limit you have hit. If they are unable to tell you, it is time for a new host. :)
Mike
The last host was very good - I stayed with them because quite simply, the guy running it was a genius. Now he is into farming (no kidding) and with the recent problems, I'm worried. I think I might want to try VPS.
Ran into it again today. It doesn't do that much damage - I am on other sites, so I refresh the page and if that doesn't clear it, I go to other sites and come back. I wonder how many Commodore C-64's it would take to act as a server for this site? :icon_wink:

I sent you a PM about VPS.
When my last host went belly up, they took my data, and the data of 2,000+ customers with them. Luckily I had nightly, off-site backups, so I only lost about 8 hours of data. Still, it was a very unpleasant 48 hours.
Mike
Thanks for the help. Yeah I took a look at the site. Not sure right now.
Never had it before but has happened so far, twice today .
dave
i get it about one outta every 20 visits or so...usually, it's if i have several tabs open...then it just becomes unresponsive...can't even refresh the page.
if i close it, and re-visit, it will work fine then, tho

Exactly the same for me - I suspected my web connection provider, as the usual culprit...
I've had it a few times. Funny how a forum going down can freak so many people out! haha. No offense obviously, as I've had minor heart attacks over forums going down ;D
got it again. damn!
I hadn't got one until just now. Although since the switch I have noticed some slow downs. I hope we haven't killed another host. I might have to update the Godzilla image.
Andrew
Seen it a few times now :(
I'm right along side Tammy. I hadn't seen one until yesterday. It locked me out for about half an hour, believe it or not. Got another this morning, but cleared on refresh.
FWIW, I just ran into another one (I've seen it about 5 times before in the past weeks) at 18:04 local time (Netherlands), so about 5 min. ago. Forced reload does nothing, a short while later the board is back up but very, very slow now.
I just had this message again about 30 seconds ago. :icon_confused:
Had my first. I feel like smoking a cigarette.
Hadn't seen one until today. ~12:15 EST.
had a few today...then slowed right down.. :P

LOL :icon_lol:
I'm getting intermittent very-slow-loads. From many-seconds to several minutes. Fine at the moment, but a few hours back I gave up and surfed The Register instead.
I suspect your CPU is shared with hundreds of other sites. Most sites are low-traffic, but with spurts.
At another forum such an issue turned out to be another site on the same CPU doing some heavy background chores.
for those who haven't seen...or for others who need a fix
Resource Limit Reached (http://www.luciferstrip.com/fuzz/resourcelimit.htm)
Have seen this MULTIPLE times just this morning. Followed shortly by Looooooooooong load times.
Extremely annoying! :icon_evil:
EDIT: AND AGAIN. Really bad today!

That is hilarious! And probably not too far from the truth for some people working in customer service. :icon_eek:
I got it twice yesterday when using the search function
got it just now again..
Have gotten it MULTIPLE times today...
Maybe its because of the production builders posting multiple pictures of the same pedals in the Pictures thread :icon_rolleyes:
Here we go again. :(
I guess I'm in the club now. :icon_twisted:
Same here...
I just got this resource limit on several pages, but not on this one...so???? ???

Resource Limit Reached (http://www.luciferstrip.com/fuzz/resourcelimit.htm)
i didn't get one today, so i used this link just to feel annoyed again....ahhh thats better.. ;D
Just had this! Took around ten minutes to follow-up to another thread... :-\
(Hang on a minute - now I can't follow-up to this thread!!)
...aah, there it is - back again after another five minutes...
@aron: is this a US lunchtime browsing overload?
Normal service will be resumed as soo
dualrack.com:
'Web proxy hosting accounts are currently limited to 40 concurrent processes. What are "concurrent processes" you may be wondering? This basically means the amount of pages that are being processed at one time. This feature was put into place to refrain accounts from consuming up too many shared server resources.
'If your proxy account has more than 40 pages being processed at any given time then visitors will receive a "Resource Limit Is Reached" error. Once the concurrent process limit goes below 40 this error will be automatically removed. Proxy accounts with traffic that uses more than 40 concurrent processes on a normal basis are recommended to purchase a VPS hosting account instead.'
www.ubbcentral.com
'It is very common for shared hosting accounts to limit how many computer resources (CPU time and memory) a site uses. Otherwise a very active site could negatively impact other sites on the server.
'The big question is how restrictive are they being.
'An unscrupulous host will get REAL picky in an attempt to corral a site owner into a more expensive hosting plan, or even a dedicated server.
'Of course, I have no idea at all if MindRaven is being fair or not. However, the fact that you have noticed sites banging their head against a limit that seems not to of been there before is an indication that they changed something. We can only guess as to a motive.'
Alexa traffic rankings: 'Diystompboxes.com is ranked #227,538 in the world... Visitors to it view 3.0 unique pages each day on average,'
Seems like whatever changed last week also invoked lower limits. Options are to find a more liberal host or pay more for higher limits.

Yikes! That is pretty restrictive. I wonder what they consider a "page being processed" to be. Is it the execution of a script? Is it a database hit? Is it a simple HTTP request?
This posting page has 85 images on it. They are all requested at once. Add in style sheets and the actual HTML for the page, and it could be 100 concurrent requests just to load the page.
I repeat: yikes.
Mike
> Options are to find a more liberal host or pay more for higher limits.
I've done some research and I am paying more than enough for "higher limits". I have written to the new support several times and while they are fast to respond, as you can see nothing has changed. I will be investigating new options. I need to keep a log of how many times we have switched providers! I think it's VPS time.
I've gotten this message over 20x today.
Yes, I'm probably spending too much time here.....
It's really bad today. Frustrating and tedious.
I also noticed the IP address for the forum has changed recently, about the same time this problem popped up.
Yes, the hosting provider I was with sold the hosting to someone else.
I'm now getting SMF connection messages as well.
I'm getting a new server soon!
VPS - more bandwidth and more disk space!

Yippie! :)
What was the last host's name ? Just for uhhh....reference. ;)
Andrew
It used to be montecarlohosting.net but now it's CyberLynk Network. The support is really fast and the ticketing is great, but in the end, the forum is slow :-(
The site is being backed up and moved now - so it might be slow for a while.
a glitch in the matrix? we appear to have lost twelve hours or so of posting in the move, hopefully they will return upon completion.
i'm sure normal service is soon to be resumed, just curious to see where in the timeline this post eventually appears.
I made several posts in the For Sale / Trades forum last night, and now I see they've all disappeared.. Plus I sent a PM that seems not to have gone through... Is this related?
How ironic. So I put up a post saying that the conversion took place yesterday at 3pm and that everything after that would be gone when THIS server becomes active.
But the post was one of the casualties! Anyway, this is the first time I can see the new server. We have a lot more resources so lets see how it goes. Sorry about the last 12 hours.
WOW, this server is so fast on my end!!!!!
most odd. i'm sure i'd read a couple of posts by deadastronaut and perrow reporting all to be well and then intermittent. then they were gone and i posted the glitch post above, which soon disappeared to be replaced by d'astro and perrow's posts which are now no where to be seen.
anywayz - new server - yay!
*edit* just to clarify, if it's of any use or interest, relpies #70 - #73 were originally by d and/or p.
*edit* hmmm, ain't over yet is it? i've just experienced what this forum may have looked like circa 1998.
Now you see me, now you don't :icon_cool:
oooOOOOoooohhhhhh!
