Title: Danelectro Chicken Salad help (foot switch)
Post by: MomaDan on May 20, 2012, 05:22:25 PM
I'm having a not so great start to my modding career. I bought a CS that turned out to be broken. Sound transmits when bypassed but not when active. I figured it was the foot switch that seems to be the most common problem. So I pulled the plastic piece off of it. But I can't figure out where to place the contact probes from my multimeter (from byoc kit) to get a reading. Marcy at Dano said if I can pinpoint the problem they will send me a new switch, they couldn't troubleshoot at all though. Thanks in advance.

Or does it make more sense to rehouse the whole thing at this point?

Sounds like you might be better off to rehouse the pedal.

(Trying to pull this from memory...) If I recall, the switch is a simple single pole momentary switch. If so, shorting the contacts together momentarily will engage the pedal. If pushing the switch makes the LED come on, then the switch itself is working.

Have you tried checking the signal path with an audio probe?
