Just built this today.  I added a little mod of my own - a 100k linear pot between pin 5 and 8.  Lets you control the amount of fizz and bittcrushy-ness, although the control knob is not especially dramatic, it does make enough of a difference to be worthwhile if you are looking for a way to shape the tone.  For those who are messing with this circuit (thanks for dreaming this up, Fuzzzzzzzz) have you had any luck improving the sustain - since notes fart out very quickly?  Also curious to know if anyone has actually fried their chip with the 9v.  Maybe worth it to put a small resistor between the battery and the circuit?

ow.. i'v burned a few 567 with a 9 v adapter.. so yes we need a voltage regulator.. see the info on the previous page and lets see those photos!!!

try putting a booster in front for more sustain. I used a lpb1 1 pedal in front.. also gives you a warmer sounding fuzzy result. I like this one with the notes fading quickly.. more NES sounding

Perhaps just a buffer in front could achieve sustain?
AFAIK the circuit has low input impedance.

Nice. Actually more musical than I expected, and sometimes makes better bell tones than more complex circuits can manage.

If you must add something to drop the supply volts - if it takes less than 10mA, you could just use a standard LED in series and it also gives you a power indicator?

I just built a circuit around this chip, and I'm getting a fuzzy sound but nothing like the great sounds in the demos. More like clean guitar with some fizz in the background. A few questions:

1. I'm using an LM567. Which pin is supposed to be the output? From the layout it appears that pin 8 is the output, but I got virtually no sound from that so I switched it to pin 2 as per the Thing Modulator and the Beavis Audio versions.

2. I used a 78L05 regulator to power the chip, and it's connected directly to pin 4. Is a series resistor required? Should the chip be powered closer to 9V to get the right sound?

3. I sandwiched the chip between a TL072 non-inv gain stage (pre) and an MPF102 buffer (post) because I wanted some pre-boost and I wasn't sure what the output impedance of the LM567 was. Is the chip expected to be loaded down by the guitar? I figured not since some people have mentioned using a booster on the front end, but maybe it is?

Breadboarding this kind of easy lay-outs Will save you kots of trouble.

1. There must be something wrong with your build. Output in this build is 8. Other designs might use other pins. It has been verified like this.

2. I have not checked this myself. Please check some voltage divider ideas on page1 and 2 of this thread

3. I think a schematic would be nice to see what you mean.

the guy just changed his advertisement after reading this  reverb.com is a genuine website, but apparantly he could not delete his ad after a sales and just changed it.

it looked very different a couple of hours ago.. He just changed it to avoid confrontation. But why? a simple post in this thread would have been enough. I dont mind people building stuff, but he could at least posted his build and experiences and asked if it was ok to sell a build he was probably not using himself anymore
