QuoteOh no, it was well before then.  I'm thinking 1998 or earlier.  I know I have exchanges from 1997 stored on my hard drive.  I just don't remember if Aron was moderating at that time, or whether Steve Morrison was still doing it all.
I'm sure I joined in 1998 so it was before that. Incidently, I always go & get a fresh cup of coffee when I see a post by Mr. Hammer. :icon_wink:

I usually turn off the TV or other distractions when R.G. or Mr. Hammer have a long post so that I can dig in... usually, there is a nugget of wisdom I can use immediately and some that I can store away for later... thanks for your patience with all of this, Aron. This place really is great. Remember that time your drummer and bass player got in a fistfight over some girl then realized later that she wasn't worth the feud... yeah its kinda been like that around here, but no reason to break up the band.
thanks for all you do.

Uhm, I have a serious doubt with the direction of this post. Was it about to stop OT comments. Or treat people with respect, and give them the respect they need for benig for so long?

I think the last one, and if so. I think there has been huge amount of new people(I may be considered new, around a year I think), which get angry when told they did something wrong.

There are 2 basic rules.

1)R.G, Mark Hammer, Paul Marossy, Frostwave, and all the gurus. Are always right.

2)Rule one is always correct.

Just kidding, though.. but, what I think that is missing here is to appreciate and realize the chance..and all that is given with this forum. All that you learn, create destroy thanks to it.. and I think people is not realizing that, ergo being disrespectful to people.

I want you to be both forgetful and appreciative of great literature (no matter what form it takes) at the same time. :icon_wink:

LOL!

I've been wrong plenty of times before. The other three guys on the list, however...

Neither. It was to stop the douchebaggery of "OMG THAT'S MY DESINE U CAN'T USE IT EVEN THO I POST IT ON TEH INTERNETS!!!"

That's how I read it, anyway.

It means to treat others with respect. Value members that contribute. Do not abuse the help of others.

Pfft. I had that idea MONTHS ago. Either pay me a licensing fee, or I'll leave the forum. :icon_mrgreen:

aron,
Coming from one of the "newer" guys, I want to apologize on behalf of any of us who have abused the generousity of you guys.  You all know how much most really appreciate you all, and if there is anything I can do, please let me know.  I really want to keep this place from going down the tubes.

We all need to support each other, if for no other reason, we have one common interest.

It's simple, really.  Think about the threads and posts you've seen that made you really appreciative.  Now copy the example.  Most do, and the ones that don't just sorta forget to do it now and then.

jlullo

mark,
definitely!  i am, and will keep doing my best.  i don't know what i'd do without you guys, and i definitely appreciate the mellow vibes of tihs place, present company included :)

Personal attacks, wars of words, power stuggles, libel, slander, accusations, etc. - I guess this is the kind of stuff that happens when you have a forum with as many members as this forum has. Odds are there are going to be some bad apples that get off on starting trouble and trying to make everyone else rotten, too. I don't think one can be too severe in dealing with that sort of stuff before it gets out of hand.

IIRC, Aron was separate, then hooked up with Ampage for a while, then went his separate way again.

That's the way I remember it , 1998 I believe.

it's like that at any other forum or community.  luckily, those people will be gone quickly.  more keep coming, but since they all eventually leave, the people that are polite and contribute will always outweigh the others greatly.  i think that's why this forum will definitely be okay.  there will just be few bumps.

Yeah, but while those kind of boneheads are at a forum, they take out several people before they fizzle out.  :icon_mad:

I know this isn't really the point of the thread, nor is this something that Aron wants to hear, but I think it bears saying, that besides having founded and maintained this place all these years, earning him a debt of gratitude and respect from all of us, not to mention having contributed some very tasty pedals to DIY-dom, Aron has also consistently set an example, in terms of the patient and respectful tone he takes with others. AFAIAC, a guy who considers guitar his second instrument, for heaven's sake, and still plays rings around me and all my kin, and then hosts and makes a mark like he has here, would be entitled to some slack if he weren't always such a nice guy. Instead, he is unfailingly a gentleman. My hat is off.

The point of this being an echo to Mark's post above about taking heed of what the man has to say, albeit from a slightly different POV.

It probably should be noted that these type of things come and go in cycles and all will be more normal soon enough but better. :)

I hope that things will turn to better. The help that I have received in here have been great and I would be very sad if this forum would wreck down.

A millions of thanks to all of you.

I seriously doubt aron or peter would let that happen (or any of the regulars! :) ), before that would happen, people would probably be kicked off or posting priveleges taken away.

And that's where I think the forum moderators could be more strict. In my book, there's not one inch of room for the kind of crap that blows people out of here.
