Wasting Money?

I'm getting the components ready to build my pedal, and decided I'm not going to do the piece by piece Radio-Shack route. I've checked out the schematics for the pedals I want to try, and will order the most common stuff in minor volume.
With caps, it looks like mostly .001mf - 1.0mf. I'm treating this like ampwork, use quality and low tolorance. Am I wasting time and money on caps like these? The tolorance is only 10%.
Thanks.

Since pedals will work just fine with low voltage caps you could get by with much less, but capacitors are funny things. Those HV caps may sound better, they may not sound as good, and more than likely, you won't be able to tell a difference between them.

I use 100V polyester films http://www.web-tronics.com/passive-electronic-components-capacitors-polyester-capacitors.html and I'm quite happy with them.

If you don't want to be super picky, go for the smaller caps, but only an A/B test will really tell you for sure. "Ultimate" tone is all in the fine tuning.

Thanks for the advice Peter. They have everything but the 1.0uf caps. Digi-key has them, but I'll get beat up on the shipping and handling fees. I'll keep looking. Saving money just means spending more. $135 out to Stewart McDonalds already today!
