Hi,

I just stumbled over some OC 75 germanium transistors on ebay, supposedly from the 1960s. No bids so far, they could be mine for only 5 Euro, is this worth it? Will they still work after more than 40 years or is this more like a collectors item?

Here's the link (it's in German!):

Any comments?

Also, I have some AC128s on Ebay if anyone is interested in them:

There's some info about this transistor at http://www.geocities.com/stompbox2001/ac128.htm

Any idea about the Hfe/leakage of these trannies?

Thanks

Obviously there is some risk in buying NOS Ge trannies. The makers that advertise using them claim that they have a high reject rate in selecting suitable ones for boosters and distortions because many are too 'leaky'. I wonder when I see these ads if they are selling off the ones that they rejected, especially if they mention Fuzz Face in the ad.

I'll probably look for the Japanese Ge trannies from someone who never heard of a Rangemaster and take my chances there.

But you never know. :)

I wasn't if I should post this as it's own subject but I also have line on some OC76's. They are  about $2.75 if I buy 50 or more. I can't afford to buy that many by myself. Anyone interested in splitting a shippment?

I measured the hfe of 4 randomly selected AC128s at 58, 71, 86 and 100.  None had over 220uA leakage.  These are from a bag of 200 transistors that I bought and have not been selected or picked over, just randomly pulled out of the bag.

I'd go for 5 or 10.  Are these from electronicpool.de?  I was thinking about placing an order there but I haven't made any inquiries yet.  I'm guessing PH stands for Philips... anybody know what manufacturer DSI would be shorthand for?

If I were in "Deutschland" or elsewhere in "Europa", I'd bid!

...i;ve not used the oc75 but my guess is that it could work well in a rangemaster type effect.
