I built another microamp but this one not working--no sound--my meter shows it get about the right  power to ic--theres really not that many parts and i went all over them..hmmm i feel stupid--i somehow fix the harder builds and get stummped on the easier ones..Any ideas why no sound would come out at all? using a tl071.

Is the IC grounded?

Use an audio probe to verify that signal is hitting the input pin and that signal is exiting the output pin.

I chked the ground on ic--looks good--i changed out a few parts just in case and still no go..an it be a bad pot? its a c500k..i assume the "c" means reverse.

It is doubtful the pot is the problem.
Check your pin Voltages, get your audio probe going [I don't use one].
I work from output toward center to input, with the amp on and connected to the output, I take a conductor and connect it to my hand, listen for the 'buzz' sound [of thumb on tip of live cord], turn the volume so the buzz soundis loudest on the circuit side, [all the way up] that will tell you that signal's passing the volume pot, then work further into the cct from the output, to the Collector, drain, or IC output...should be able to get some buzz there even if its attenuated.
The buzz Will be louder at the base gate or input of IC if it's amplifying [turn the gain up], then on to the input section...should be able to get signal all the way through...hopefully...after a prob is found.
I do most all my debuggin this way..

Thats the same way i ussually do it!!! hahah -thought i was the only one.. thats how i fixed my highway  89--it started working when finger touched the bad part..
