I was wondering...what effect on the sound of the Fuzz Face does the 20µF bypass cap on the wiper of the Fuzz pot have?  I notied that the Vox ToneBender has a 15µF, the Fuzz Face has a 20µF, and the ToneBender MKII has a 4.7µF.

What would happen if the 20µF was replaced with a lower value like a 10µF, or a higher value like 33µF?

TIA!

Lower value bypass cap= a little less gain [depending on how much smaller] and less bass gets amplified.
Larger bypass means more bass which also means more gain.
Convention creates following, following creates convention.

Phillip, try subbing tants for the 2.2uf and 22uf electro's. Gives the slight effect of a little less, but tighter bass. In reality, it's just a little mud cleaned up.
