I think I just finished a Muff Fuzz... but I dont know how it should sound. It sounds like late 60's distortion, nothing great, but nothing bad. I find myself playing a lot of Thin Lizy type licks- maybe thats a good thing.

Anyway- is there a site with some sound samples of the Muff Fuzz that I can use as a reference?

Thanks guys!

Thanks! I knew there would be one somewhere. Thats pretty close to what I got last night. Of course it was 12:30am when I finished so I couldnt open it up... 3 kids and the wife all asleep- I would not have been a popular guy!

Check the Mockman at ROG and Schematics 2 has Guss' Muff Fuzz Mods.  I like it with a reduced cap between stages for less of a fuzz sound and more of a distortion and an LED/2SI diodes in the loop combo.   8)

Please note that the Muff Fuzz sound clip from http://home-wrecker.com is the two-transistor version, as found at GGG.

Whoops disregard my comments, they concerned the Op-amp version, which I highly recommend.   8)

I just plugged it into my Gibson Gold Tone and man does it sound cool! Even at low volume it sounds really creamy... not too bad for a 30 minute build.
