For what they're asking for it Im guessing its pretty darn spiffy- whos disected and or built one?I would love to compare it to some of the boosters I've put together.
Anyone have a schem and layout?

Short answer - nothing. ;)

Medium length answer - pricing generally is unrelated to contents!

Long answer - the original fat boost (is there two versions now)? was a direct copy of one of Jack Orman's circuits (the minibooster I think) but with a poorly-thought out tone control tacked on. There was a website around that had a comparison and schematic, but I can't remember it and don't have access to my schematic library currently. I'm sure someone else will step in with more info.

Cool... thanks Mike- I hope someone has a little more.

It's special due to the fact that it's a good sounding design.

The guy who did the design *cough* JackOrman *cough*.. that the fatboost is 'based' off of is a very smart guy.

Not sure where Fuller got the design for that pedal.

The original mini-booster has been in my guitar bag since the early days of AMZ when Jack put his design on his site.

I first built one to connect a cheap mike to my PC. Then, when when people started talking about how nice it was helping a guitar sound good, I built one exclusively for my guitar.

I still need to label it. I added a pot, just in case I needed a tone control... but it's still not connected. Someday, I'll have to find a use for it,  :)

Btw, if you add the Fulltone tone control and the drive pot, it should sound fatter, but there is already knobs on your guitar that does the same

IIRC, the new ones are different - gone are the input gain, volume, and tone controls, replaced with volume, drive, and tone controls.  The volume/tone are self explanatory but the drive control (supposedly) re-biases the FET for more/less drive.

Jack Orman gives many ideas in his paper on the mini-booster to add a gain pot.

I remember now why I added a second pot to my mini-booster pedal...
