who actually built os mutantes effects?

i took apart a broken CD player and the motorwith the "CD holder" on it fits right on a pot shaft. so i was thinking about the os mutantes tremolo built in a wah pedal to vary the speed.

maybe i could also throw in a fuzz?


so i would like to hear some opinions on the known os mutantes effects, and maybe some schems?

Well, that depends entirely on the kind of motor it is!
personally, I'd go for a very cheap battery operated drill. Plenty of DIY speed control circuits for these DC motors. I suspect that CD player motors are much more difficult to hack (for a start, they are probably designed to work with some highly specialised digital chip).

I never saw a schematic for the tremolo used by Sergio Dias, I believe he uses an commercial unit now.

He does not use his brother stuff nowadays. He still has the golden guitar, but it's just there.
Anyway, his unbelievable tone is surely not from today, but from the good old days...

you would be suprised if you open up CD players. it are all just small DC motors. the motor that spins the cd's as well as the motor that changes the position of the lense.

I saw Sergio Dias live in 1982 or 1983. He was not using any CCDB gear. The guitar was a Fender Stratocaster and he had a huge pedalboard with the entire Boss catalog I don´t remember which amp, most likely a Roland J120 or a silverface Fender Twin.
