Hi guys,
I am brand new to building pedals, so I wanted to start with the simplest I could, and made a point to point Bazz Fuss, using a red led as the diode.
I just successfully made my first one that works connected to a footswitch, but I still have some weird volume and fading in and out issues.
I attached photos and a video, where I adjust my guitar volume knob which makes it cut in and out. The tone knob doesn't have an effect, but also when I pick very lightly it cuts in and out.
Any help is appreciated, thank you!

Judacool - welcome to the forum.

you've set us a task, what with no circuit diagram and no layout diagram and no voltage measures and no part numbers .... and we'd usually take you to task for not supplying all that stuff, rules being rules, and all.

your video sounds like blocking, as though you had a way huge electro at the input without any pulldown. is the electro supposed to be at the input or the output? a schematic would tell. also, is your led backwards? hard to tell without a dia or two. and what transistor are you using?

etc. [try adding a 1M resistor from the yellow end of the electro to ground.]
it's taco time.

First off thank you for the welcoming! And thank you for answering even with the lack of info, I didn't even think to include all that.
The layout diagram I used is from this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jyC55DBVwp0&t=17s
All the parts are:
-2N3904 Transistor
-1uf Electrolytic capacitor
-100nf film capacitor
100k resistor
-red led as the diode
-A100k pot
And then regular mono jacks and 3pdt footswitch

The electro is hooked up to input, and the middle lug of the pot is connected to output. Also the wiring diagram I used for the footswitch is from here, just without the on and off led connected: https://tagboardeffects.blogspot.com/2012/02/offboard-wiring.html

I will give the 1M resistor a shot first and come back to report

observe. at the home-wrecker page, they mention that as the diode Fv goes up [ie, a led], the input cap should [probably] go down [56nF or something].

in the image above, the input has a 50k pot weighing down the 10uF input cap. this may well be preventing "blocking distortion" from a too-big cap, which is why I suggested the 1M pulldown. if it's not blocking, well, we're in trubble.
it's taco time.
