thought i would say i had a thought...  i know very unique for me i actually thought.   lol
:D

anyway.. what if you take an lpb1 booster,   dump it into the same setup as the bobtavia(ie the transformer) minus the diodes that make the octave.  put in a coupling cap two germaniums back to back in hard clipping mode.  and then into a volume control.  dumped into another transformer out to a cap to two silicons or two leds, the same order as the germs.  and out to a eq or a volume knob..

looks feaseable.  i tried it some time ago, and got usable results,  i only tried it for a little bit but i think it could definately go along way with expiramentation.

Very cool! 8)

I was wonderni what direction the transformers were wired? If you were going 1K->8ohms with both of them, I can't see the LEDs ever getting enough juice to clip as the signal would be quite limited by the Ge diodes in the previous stage.

So.... I'm wondering.... is the second transformer reversed so the secondary is 1K, or if not, have you tried swappnig the LEDs and GE diodes?

I like the inherent transformer filtering action here. :D

actually it is 8home to 1k  on both of them.. sorry for the confussion.. its set up like the bobtavia.
