Easy multi face question

When switched on i get no sound--when switched off i get sound. I think iver chked over everything a million times incl values and connection ect.. Question= If i put the led in wrong could that keep circut from performing at all?  And, does it matter the size of the led? I used a 5mm. Also connecting this to a dpdt switch = would this be a good plan to go with? http://www.muzique.com/schem/dpdt2.gif

for debugging i would leave the switch out, and probably the led too..i had the 22uf cap backwards on mine that took some staring at to figure out...dont give up. do you have dmm? maybe post the voltage at c,b,e of both q1 and q2 would help some of the smarter folks around here figure out why yours doesnt work.
