I have a 1998 Honda Civic which recently had a steering problem where it puuled to the left. I had the wheel alignment adjusted - the garage use a lstate of the art laser machine to take the reading, ad the wheels where all balanced and moved around. I still get a very slight pull to the left which the mechanic thought must be another problem beyond the technology of their equipment. Has anyone experienced similar problems? Maybe there's wear in the Steering rack, perish the thought!

how old are your tires ?  if your mis-aligned for a while.. the tires will wear differently on each side of the car.

This is truly and staggeringly off-topic.

And adequately titled as such.

BTW, the rack and pinion on my wah pedal need an alignment.

That's the most off-topic question ever! lol.
I don't like Holland. Nobody has the transistors I want.

If your tires were balanced and rotated and still have the same problem it must be something other than the tires.Maybe you need a better mechanic who will invest the time and effort to get down AND dirty and figure out the problem and not just rely on the limited scope of his diagnostic equipment. All in all the Civic is an excellent automobile, one of the best on the road and may warrant a trip to the dealership or a specializing shop.

Hey, no hard feelings about it. Just thought it was funny.Usually the thread titles are like "OT: Channel switcher schematics" not "OT: Here's what I had for breakfast".

I used to do 'goodeye' alignments.
I would assemble and connect  all that diagnostic crap four or five times first and do numerous misalignment with that.
Then when the Speey mgr. was out [finally] i'd whip that thing on the alignment rack, [with the 'spin plates' for the front tires which allow them to turn while they have the cars weight on them]
Then I would get my eye [right eye] precisely positioned inline with the outside edge of the fron and back of the back tire, and align the front tire with that [then do it on the other side] taking everything into account [cause I'm SOOooo Gooddd!!!] I would adjust that thing in about 1/12 the time it took me to misalign it using all that diagnostic crap four or five times...lol...Perfect !!!
Yes I can align using the goodeye and get caught, then let the Mgr. show me how easy it is ... lol ... lol hooking up all that crap and doing everything by the #'s and having the alignment all messed up again and then have him do it again a couple times till he ultimately realized he was forced to recogniZe and  submit to the Goodeye MANN!!
put the goodeye back on it and ship it he said !!!! How THE FFFF you LiKin' ME NOW sukka???
Them plates [if not NEWW] get sticky and will throw the machine off...besides a computer like mine can compensate for the way these balanced' parts work...
Goodeye takes about 15 minutes diagnostic crap takes about 45 if you hurry and then another and another and another...forget about it !!!
I line that thing UP !!!

my car has always pulled to the left for the last three years - the car I drove before pulled to the left as well (both were/are volvo 340s).   I noticed that it only ever pulled to the left when driving at slower speeds around cities, and never on motorways.

One night on my way home - quite late, i decided to try a (very dangerous) experiment - i drove on the wrong side of the road (the right-hand side here in britain) - Hey Presto, the car pulled to the right!

In conclusion, the pull here is most probably caused by the weight of the engine pulling the car down the camber of the road towards the pavement.

A scientific diagnosis of a pain in the ass problem - unfortunately I have no way of fixing it other than buying a better car - and I can't afford to buy anything other than hunks of junk due to being 22 years old and having crippling insurance premiums :(
