i have been recently purchasing the FR-4 epoxy glass copper clad pc boards from mouser and have decided that i hate them.  they are just too strong and too thick and the woven stuff makes a clean break almost impossible.  what i was looking for was actually the cheap yellow solid flaky kind of board like you can get at radioshack only its double sided.  does anyone know a) what im talking about and b) where to get it only single sided?  it seems like the glass epoxy stuff is much more common and i dont even know what the other cheap yellow stuff is called.

I believe the yellow stuff is Phenolic.  I hate it, I've had a lot of bad traces-coming-off experiences with it.  Others swear by it.  Personally, it's proven beneficial for me to be able to see the traces through the epoxy glass when laying out parts, makes things go quicker.

But yeah, Small Bear sells the phenolic board.

I don't have any trouble breaking FR4, if I score it heavily with a tile cutting tool first.
And, I had to do this for about 100 (!) that a PCB maker should have cut for me!That brown stuff, shatters if you try to snap it.
