expression pedal question

I have a pedal that I want to mod so I can switch between a pot and an expression pedal.  Here's what I was thinking I would do but I'm so much of a beginner that I've never even sat a bike much less ride with training wheels.  However, I think I can do this.

I was thinking that I could add a 2DPDT switch that would switch between the pot and a jack.  That should let me plug in a volume pedal with a pot of the same value as the original and it should sound just like the original pot.  Am I correct?  Or will I need some sort of circuit for the expression pedal to work right?  I wonder if  Line6 expression pedal would work or and Ernie Ball Volume Pedal.

Am I missing something?

There is information on this exact subject at http://www.geofex.com

Take a look over there. Good luck!

cool! thanks.  I'd still like to know if it can be made to toggle between the expression pedal and the internal pot using a stomp switch.  Rather than using the expression pedal when it's plugged in and the pot only when the exp pedal is not plugged in.

In most cases, I'd think you could use a switch. If it's used as a variable resistor, rather than a voltage divider, it will be easier.

There's undoubtedly alot of info here in the archives as well. Once you can tell us more specifically what you're dealing with, it will be easier to help.
