Im building a guitar with onboard electronics. As you read on the topic its going to have a Booster and a sustainer.

So far I have in mind to use the Alembic Stratoblaster to boost the signal. What I want from the booster is to make the signal hotter so the passive pickups become "active" sounding like EMG and obviously its not going to be used for clean tones but for distortion and overdrive. Will the stratoblaster suit me well?

Next I have in mind a sustainer. Now I want to be clean infinite sustain. Any circuits out there?

Whats your favourite booster and sustainer and why?

You can try all the circuits you want easily and before installing them.
Metal box for footing has two 1/4'' mono phonojacks mounted in it.
The cardboard box mounted atop the metal one has test clip wires for hot in, hot out and ground from the jacks.
I just put the bare board with offboard pots & battery clip in the open top, top box ... making the connections via cabled mono 1/4'' plugs [guitar cord].
Stratoblaster, Fetzer Valve, any of these provide a quite 'cleanish boost', and add a little character. Very nice...if I was doing an in guitar booster, I'm pretty sure it would have a FET in it.
Convention creates following, following creates convention.

You may be better off buying a Fernandes Sustainer guitar than trying to build that circuitry. Not sure how much room you'd have in one to fit your boost circuit though. With all that gadgetry in your axe, expect to be changing batteries often, unless you work out some kind of phantom power.

They will have bypass switches and wont be on all the time...in fact they will be off most of the time I guess.

I played one of those and thats why I want a sustainer circuit :)
How does that sustainer work?
Will a compressor work out as a sustainer?
