Hey all,

I saw a bit of information on this in the archives, but nothing definitive that actually answers my questions...

I'm in the middle of building a PT-80.  The layout from GGG shows 10 1uF polarized caps.  In the bill of materials, it also specifies Mouser Part#5989-100V1.0 (CDE sub-miniature) for these.  Now that I have these in hand, they do _not_ appear to be polarized.  Any ideas of what to do?

Also, there are .47uF caps specified in the layout.  The ones I ordered (Mouser #140-MLRH50V.47) ARE polarized, but the layout doesn't specify polarity.  Does this matter?

Sorry for the "dumb" questions.  I just want to get the project built correctly.

Any information will be great appreciated!!

For the 1uF caps, they are NOT specified on the parts list as being polarized, and they are NOT shown on the schem as being polarized.  So, the caps specified are non-polar, and the caps you bought are non-polar, so you're fine there.

As for the .47uF caps, the schem and parts list show non-polar caps to be used.  However, you are in luck.  In the schem, you'll notice that the 2 0.47uF caps are connected to SA571.  One is on pin 1, and the other is on pin 15.  In each instance, one side of the cap is connected to the chip, and the other side to ground.  Use the negative side of your polarized .47uF caps to make the connection to ground.  Use the positive side of the cap to connect to the pin of the SA571.

Thanks very much!  I really appreciate your help.
