I suggest socketing C3.
A .1uF worked for me.

I'm just about finished populating the board and I thought you should know the PCB transfers in the PDF there are missing a trace. I didn't realize it untill I was getting to that section, but it's between the jumper and R21 and C12.

I finished it up last night but didn't get a chance to try it out untill just a little bit ago. Sounds great, makes you just want to endlessly palm mute things :twisted: , and with the tone knob on my guitar turned down it was a very nice lead type tone.
Now to box it up...

Congratulations! I think you're the first build report. It makes think in terms of an OA BMP, but with a lot more bite. Hope you enjoy it!

Set-up suggestions: 1. Turn the gain knob all the way up, and then adjust gain 2(trimpot) all the way down till there is no sound, then bring it up till you get the amount of breakup you like. That way you can have as little or as much compression as you want. I have mine just to the point where it starts to mush out a little bit. 2. Then turn Sat(trimpot) all the way down and bring it up till you like the sound, I like it all the way up.

That's pretty much what I did to find the best sound with it, I solved the missing trace problem with a piece of bare wire I had laying around I just layed it along where the actual trace should have been.
What op-amp are you useing in yours? right now I have a TL072 in it, but I'm going to sit down with my stash of chips and try out each one when I get some free time.

I tried a bunch of dual OAs in the clipping section of the full version, but the one that sounded the best was a JRC4558. The hi-fi chips didn't work as well I thought.

If you build the full version, the chip in the parametric section needs to be as hi-fi as possible. I've got a Burr/Brown in the prototype, anything else will cause a fluttering sound when you max out the bass boost/cut control and also cause a strange low-octave effect similar to Joe D.'s Shocktave.
