I have an old dod digital delay. Model is DFX9.

It is malfunctioning. Here is a description of the problem:

Plug the unit in and turn it on. It works fine. Then notice that the indicator light is slowly getting dimmer and dimmer. soon the sound start sdeteriating. By now the light is totally off and there is NO sound at all coming from the pedal. Turn it onand off. nothing happens. Unplug the power surce and give it a minit to think about what its done. plug it back in and repeat teh above. The entire process takes maybe 10-15 seconds.

i took the board out to lok for any shorts etc. couldnt see any. But i did noticce that there is a transistor that is getting DAMN hot. liek burn your finger hot.

Does anyone have any ideas on how i should go about trouble shooting/repairing this? i think it works. Its just apower issue.

Any help is GREATLY appreciated.

I bought this pedal used for cheap in a pawn shop. it had this probelm fromthe get go. but in the store i thought it was because the battery was jsut dieing. WHOOPS.

hopefully it can be salvaged.

measure resistors connected directly to that transistor and make sure they are within spec. Measure that transistor out of circuit for short circuits. If it's easy to find a replacement, replace the transistor. THey do weird things sometimes.
