A stupid question maybe...
Let's say I have 2 boosters I'd like to put in an enclosure with a lever switch to select the booster to use...
They both have the same pot value...
Is it possible to wire just one pot for both boosters?!

Well, if you wired a pot to a switch, it couldn't keep the value for both effects. So if you're only using one effect at a time, you could do it. You could also use one of those two in one pots, where one sits inside the other.

We'll need more information. If the pot is at the input or output of both boosters it can be done with a dpdt. Simply switch between the circuitry after (or before) the pot in each booster. If the pot is in a different place in each booster it will be more difficult. I think you'll need a 4p2t switch and I don't think you'll be too pleased with the results in either case.

The normal reasons to switch between two boosters is to get either different tone with the same level, different level with the same tone or both different tone and different level. All three are much easier to achieve by switching between the complete circuit of each booster. Unless you get extremely lucky, switching between two circuits where one pot controls the same parameter in each circuit will likely give you a volume level in one circuit that you don't want.

What two boosters do you want to switch between and what is the intention of switching between the two? Why do you only want to use one pot?

I'd use a 2-gang pot ... 2 pots, 1 knob, job done.

All right, let's say I want to hook a LPB2 and a Tillman - both have a 100kA at the output.
So I'd wire them like this
Input jack ---> main footswitch ---> DPDT lever switch (in&out at the middle lugs, LPB in&out at the top lugs, Tillman in&out at the bottom lugs) both the out lugs come from the center lug of the pot.
Something like this...Would it work?

I don't think that will work, try this:

-left side of the top switch as is.
-output of the tillman to top right lug of switch
-output of lpb2 to bottom right lug of switch
-centre lug of switch to top lug of volume pot
-bottom lug of volume pot to ground
-centre lug of volume pot to top right lug of bottom switch

The way you have it wired now the outputs of the Tillman and LPB2 are always connected together, then into the volume pot. All you're doing is switching the guitar signal between the inputs of the two effects. You might get sound through it but one effect will always effect the other. That might be what you want, but you'll get exactly the same results using a spdt switch to switch the inputs and hardwiring the outputs to the pot.

Never thought about that...It sounds fine!!!  :icon_wink:
Had to try it...
