Anyone know where I can find some BC108's?

I can't seem to find anywhere that stocks them.

I'm looking to build a cClorsound One Knob Fuzz from this layout:

Smallbear has a BC108 workalike: http://www.smallbearelec.com/Detail.bok?no=272

And Newark has new stock: http://www.newark.com/jsp/search/browse.jsp?N=500003+1003901&Ntk=gensearch_001&Ntt=bc10&Ntx=

I don't know if there is a difference between what Newark sells and the "vintage" ones, but the price is good.

If you're not doing it for yourself, it's not DIY. ;)

Oh, thanks!

It's weird I did a search at Small Bear for BC108, but nothing showed up.
I guess you have to manually go into the transistors section to get to that.

Do you happen know what the difference between a 108 and a 108b or 108c is?

Thanks again

The letters are for different gain ranges.

i ordered some bc107 trannies from futurlec and got them a few weeks later with no problems. they have bc108 trannies for 50 cents a piece. if you don't mind waiting you could get them from there. and while you're at it you could get a few stripboards, pots, ribbon cable, headers, wima caps, etc... i kinda love futurlec, if you can't tell. there are a few horror stories regarding their service, so take this with a grain of salt.

Just don't be in a hurry to get your stuff if you order from Futurlec.  And follow up with them 2 days after you placed the order in case something is out of stock.  They've made good on all the orders I've had from them.  Takes 2-4 weeks, though.

Here's a couple  electronics parts search engine that go through the stock of a multitude of suppliers, saves much time searching for hard to find bits.

quick queston -
what's the difference between a BC108 and a BC108B or BC108C?

Does it matter which one I get?

BAARON

BC108 is the lowest gain and BC108C is the highest gain.  Look up a datasheet (somewhere like here http://www.datasheetcatalog.com/ ) and check for the hFE ratings to see it for yourself, if you'd like details.

Do you know what places charge for shipping?  A lot of places don't tell you until you have already placed the order.  I hate ordering small things like this from Small Bear because you end up spending 4.50 on shipping for two teeny-tiny components that cost less than two dollars!  :icon_rolleyes:

I have a $hitload of metal can BC108B xistors & would be willing to stick some in an average
envelope if you've got anything to barter with. I'm sprung on Ge xistors right now so I can spare 'em.
Optimally I'd love to trade for some 3P2T stompswitches with the suitable cash renumeration on my
end of course. None of those spazzy "winged X" turds, just the typical Blue w/ Red epoxy on the lugs.

Or mebbe you've some of these to trade...
