In the layout on http://www.tonepad.com/getFileInfo.asp?id=73 for the Blue Box, it says that the components in red are not in the 1977 version and that R24 is a jumper.  Does that mean I don't install those red parts, only the R24 jumper?  I don't want to have an incomplete circuit.

Hi,

It means that if you want to build the original 1977 version, don't put the components marked in red and replace R24 with a jumper.

Any opinions on which sounds better?

I never built it but those components marked in red are basic power filtering and an input pull down resistor which are very common in pedals. I would built it with the red components included.

Me too, though it's prolly no difference really. They prolly took em out coz they werent needed and cost money. Isn't it just power filtering and junk? I havent seen the schem in a while.

I didnt build mine with the red components, cos Im lazy, I wanted to get it done faster, and I have limited components. Be sure to put the octave mod in tho. That's great.

I actually built mine with a splitter blend. I could blend the blue box with a green ringer, and switch in a bass fuzz in series with the green ringer if I felt like it.

It was rediculous. it's the only weird effect that Ill almost never use, but havent taken apart. It's really crazy to have the blue box mixed with a little dry fuzz and two octaves down, then have the green ringer all overdrivin blended in with it. Only thing missing is the octave directly below the dry signal.
