Your post reminded me of a similar circuit that I had saved in my files, but it was from a book of analog circuits and not a magazine. Scan below...



I made several variations, some with added diodes, and interestingly, one with a PNP much like yours, but slightly different biasing. Creative minds think alike!

I see the word diapasons so is this for an electric organ?

EDIT  I reworked the schematic into what sims like a very cool circuit.  If I post it will anyone build it?

Yes, it was for voicing electric organs.  I vaguely recall that there may have been another circuit or two related to this, so I'll see if I can find the book and post any results.

This looks interesting.  I'll give it a go, Gus.  My breadboard needs something new on it.
