Anyone know how to make a 1/4 to 1/8 adapter. It seems as easy as getting a 1/4 jack and wiring it to the cut off end of a pair of headphones, is it not? I just don't know how to wire it.

It's pretty much that easy.

I if you are splicing wires I would recommend using a multimeter set to CONTINUITY and verify which wire applies to the Tip-Ring-Sleeve, or Tip-Sleeve for a mono jack.

Also using some heatshrink to help ensure the wires stay together assuming your 1/4 cable is larger, unless your just attaching the 1/8" cable to a 1/4 Jack.

Yep, I'm just making  a small adapter, no cables or nothin. I'm using it with a Y adapter to plug my guitar into my ipod, for using the amplitube app. Thanks.

Are you just planning on plugging the guitar direct? or are you making one of the DIY interfaces?

Generally speaking you need an impedance matching interface or you might not be particularly happy with the results.

Also you will definitely need a 1/8" TRRS cable (Tip-Ring-Ring-Sleeve/4 connector)

Assuming you don't have them already some interesting links:

Actually, could it be done with one of these http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=12970495
and these http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2102666   I was looking at cheaper alternatives to the iRig and someone confirmed they use this rig and it works.

EDIT: nvm, found a great price on one: http://www.mda-mall.com/AmpliTube-iRig-Audio-Adapter-Guitar-Connector-for-iPhone-iPad-iPod-Touch-5885&currency=USD
