Vallhagen- your Pinking graphics the most beautifully frightening I've ever experienced, and so child labor wins again.  The circuit is epic.  Prepare for botique companies to (coincidentally) begin marketing a similar pedal!  Well done!

Maybe they can list it next to the "Spitfire-like" distortion  ::)

That is sorta the scene, but not really the part that reminds me of you.

If you ever have a chance to see the movie,do it, because it's a really good one.

Alright- I've started the scoring process.  :icon_eek:

Just a heads up: if something has been left out of your submission, the judges will attempt to notify you on this thread, and as long as you get the required information posted by the contest deadline, it would be considered a complete entry. This is a good reason to get your submissions in early!!!

Case and point:

Here is the cheesiest pedal ever posted in the 10 years of this forum :D :D :D

Named the fromage percolé... Which is French for percolated cheese.

It is a harmonic percolator in a SLANT cut 1590A enclosure. It is loaded with a red dot OC75 germanium tranny. It has laser etched controls and some 3D printed knobs made to look like lil cheese wedges. I also had to fabricate a stomp switch that would fit in such a small place.

This project has taken forever. I hit several snags, and it got put on the back burner for a while. I figured this contest is a good reason to finish it.

LAYOUT

TRANSFER

Could you please provide a reference for the schematic and layout?  Did you design either graphic based on another one, or did you use the designs "as is" from someone else?  Thanks!

Ah. I knew I should have mentioned that. My pcb is based off of a perf layout that Jon made a while back. We both can't find the original or the schematic. Does the final entry have to have a schematic? Or is a layout good enough?   Will I miss out on any points is what I'm asking.

You won't lose points. This is for the 5 bonus points:

"5 bonus points for designing your own PCB, perfboard, or stripboard layout for the project and/or writing your own code for a digital effect. (If you write your own code and design a PCB, it’s still 5 points.)"

You provided a schematic and a layout, which is fine.  I shouldn't have asked about the schematic because you provided one and the bonus points are about the layout and not the schematic. You've met the requirements for the schematic and layout.  We just needed to know how much of the PCB layout was our own design and how much was from another source for scoring the bonus points.  You said that you designed the PCB layout based on Jon's perf layout, so that answers the question. Thanks!

you only "lose" points if it's point to point, since there is no chance of the bonus :icon_twisted: :icon_wink:

Ok, here is my entrance to the contest :
Name : liagasg (george liagas)
Pedal Name : Soul Breaker

Soul Breaker is a distortion unit build after order for a fellow guitaristwww.thereckoning.net. It's look is totally inspired by his album / merchandise art.
It's build with the metal guitarist in mind providing 2 different types of distortion with a flick of a toggle switch. I've also add the light emitting borders effect as a gift, to create a better looking unit. The unit turns green on normal distortion mode, and red on ultra high gain distortion. It has Gain-  Bass - Treble - Contour - Output knobs. Works on 9VDC. No battery compartment.

I would consider a list of PTP connections sufficient to qualify as a "layout." Like what RG did in the Rangemaster PDF. Something that provides a way for another builder to repeat the process of building the effect. (Which after all is the entire reason for offering bonus points for a layout.)

I know that's something of a pain if it's a complicated PTP build, but this is something I definitely did not consider (and should have!) before wording that rule.

Soul Breaker sports epic wicked tones, not to mention graphics and lighting effects!  Well done.

I don't see the toggle switch in the schematic.  I hear what it does (awesome), but what does it do electrically?

*edit: I see from the pcb layout that the switch changes the clipping diodes to ground.
