*edit: I see from the pcb layout that the switch changes the clipping diodes to ground.

Nevermind... postus too latus!  ;D

Soul Breaker sports epic wicked tones, not to mention graphics and lighting effects!  Well done.

I don't see the toggle switch in the schematic.  I hear what it does (awesome), but what does it do electrically?

As a matter of fact, the Schem is the base on which I've made my "experiments". I've used a SPDT switch to toggle between 2 different clipping sections.

That's a really nice box George. From light dirt to thick crunch and everything in between. The graphics are just  :o  Great build!

ok, here's my entry, its taken a while to design (too bloody long) and get the switching right with a little help from Ian (slacker) cheers man.  ;)

oh and a little help from mrs astronauts ideas on the etch design..... ::) ()trying to muscle in on it..)

introducing:

The ''SPACE PATROL FUZZ''

as you can see its basically a classic big muff with fat/thin switching, plus 3 other modes for synthy, buzzy, octavey, duck and swell type sounds..by switching diodes and collector resistors. (which was a pita to work out)
rather  like a bias control on a fuzz face...but for both collectors.

schematic:

pdf's:  layout + pcb.

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/7464107/SPACEPATROLFUZZPCB.pdf

guts...the wiring was a lot neater, but i had to pull out the pcb and remake it, and had limited tinker time to get t finished on time.. :icon_redface:

video demo...dry then with effects..

 ;) enjoy...

I was watching that video, thinking, "Hey, this is pretty cool", and then your pedal came in and I was like, "cheese and crackers, this flick took a turn for the better".  And then you went and flipped to Synth 2 + LO and the blast shock wave hit my bowels before the flash bang.  I didn't see it coming like Pompeii.

My hat's off, and I may never wear a hat again.

And now I will finish watching the video.

@Rob: "don't take the p!ss" - very funny!!   :D

Anyway, glad you managed to get it done.  It's a great pedal.  I've not even listened to the demo yet...  I'm sure it'll be fab, and "full of fuzzy goodness".   ;D

Hey Rob! Great sounds, beautifully balanced graphics, great etch. Is this similar to the one I can get in Brazil?
And George - amazing

Wöw mr Rob.

That is... en helt jävla fantastisk skapelse!

Sorry my English vocabulary aint enuff here! It starts with that perfectly etched heavenly body and then the video. Amazing. Cred for great playing too, sorta make the video better. I am actually happy to have enterred before this, as i simply cant top it.

Among the sounds, the synthy parts impress most on me.

Yep. Great:)

Rob...... just... amazing! The etch is perfect, the pedal sounds amazing, your playing is also.... amazing. The synth sounds are excellent, and octave too? It almost sounds like a bit of a reverse delay. Excellent job, and damn you!

Looks and sounds amazing Rob, did you figure out what was wrong with it before or did it just work when you rebuilt it?

liagasg - nice work. What's the BS250 doing in your layout?

never did find out, i ripped out the other pcb and made another one with the jumper, started again to get it right,  i socket the Q3 diodes to make sure i had them the same as on my breadboard.

lots of fannying about, but worth the sweat and lots of  swearing at my cat in the end ;D...cheers man. 8)

I'm caught up with my scoring, and with about 1/3 of the contestants having posted, I'll say the same thing that we've heard in other contests: this is gong to be one close mo-fo!  We've got about 10 more entries to go over the next 10 days.  No towels allowed!!! :)

I'm biased the wrong way currently, but it does make sound, so I can post but would like to get it sorted first. Box looking good though.

As seems to be my way, all my grand plans are in tatters - code doesn't work, haven't started on a layout yet, I've run out of enclosures etc.
However, I have a couple of things I haven't shown off before, so I should manage to post something before the deadline so I can collect my participation certificate.
