Does anyone have any gutshots that they can post of this?  I got the PCB from Rob, and am going to build this soon, but laying everything out is always the trickiest part for me.

Thanks in advance.

hi gregg..

i have this..

on my builds i take all grounds to the input jack...(tonepad wiring 5 style) i always do it this way, and have never had any pop issues whatsoever..)

after i populated it i realised i should have put the pot wires underneath...(like i did with the leds)

Hi!

Here's my finished build, I'm really happy with the pedal. This is a really great effect! Thank you, Deadastronaut! :D

deadastronaut

cool....nice build,  is that a 125b?

Very nice build.  Love those sausage resistors.  And a very clean job with the heatshrink on the LED/LDRs.

deadastronaut

hi lagrange, little tip,

dab a little black nail varnish on the back of the exposed leds, it will stop any light pollution

affecting each ldr,

and give a stronger signal ok....rob.

Yeah, that's a 125B. Boxing took a bit of planning and a bit of trial-and-error, but it ended up fitting quite well. :)

Thank you for your nice comments, and especially for the tip about the nail varnish! This was my first time constructing my own vactrols, and I think next time I should extend the shrink tube further on the led side as well. But otherwise I'm happy how they turned out, and it was considerably easier than I initially thought. And I'll make sure to drop a little varnish on these babies! :)

Trying to use the filter section on a Tremulus Lune. The op-amp configuration is a bit a different and I'm fairly ignorant.
Tremulus' schematic is pretty easy to google. Am I having trouble with the negative feedback resistors etc. of IC1 there?
Here's my vero:
It works well sounds great. I just get a pop when I use a spst to connect to IC1's pin2.

Bought the PCB. A quality designed board and now one of my favorite sounding pedals. Some really great synth-like effects with this build :icon_exclaim:

Yep. Here they are. Still waiting for decals to arrive from the printshop.
The extra switch is the mod for a 10uF / 45uF cap selector with dual filter speeds.

deadastronaut

cool, yeah i like the filter speed mod too...nice slow sweep etc...

I just finished building this. I'm  having a problem with the Filter LFO. The trem section works fine. The filter section won't oscillate. If I play with the rate and depth controls the filter rate LED will turn on and off. I can hear the filter effect when I do this.

I had used a BP cap for C10. I replaced this with a polarized cap with no change.

I'm using TL082s for all IC 1-3. These seem to work.

deadastronaut

Have you tried 072's.  Which i what i used.

C10 needs to be an electrolytic.

I replaced C10 with a polarized electrolytic cap. I ordered some TL072s so I'll give those a try when they get here.

I used 5mm LEDs everywhere, just those common red ones. The LEDs on the panel and the LEDs in the LDR all light up at some adjustment. Plus these LEDs are the other side of the op-amp follower so they should be isolated from the LFO sections.

Anyone want to elaborate on how this LFO works?

soggybag

Solved my problem. Seems the Filter Rate pot was grounding on the case. Works pretty good. I Used some random home brew LDRs I had laying around. These work but the filter seems a little weak. I might have to experiment with different LED/LDR combos...

deadastronaut

cool , glad you got it sorted....yes ldr values will change the response..

light to dark etc....

the leds are integral to the lfo too.  i used 3mm bright oranges...

not standard diffused reds.
