Built My First Stompbox

Big thanks to Aron for posting this project. I had a lot of fun building. I went to electronics school 30 years ago so I had to dredge up a lot of old knowledge.

Gathering components:


Installing then into the perfboard:






Finished circuit:


Put it in a box:


And onto my board:


It worked after I soldered one connection I missed. I'm supper happy. Tons of boost! I only set it to 8 o'clock-ish.

One small issue: It pops when I first turn it on and after it sits awhile. Maybe I need to check the connection on the leak down resistor?

Hmmm...  There isn't one.   

But you can add one.  Tack in a 1M resistor (value not too important) from the input jack side of the input cap to ground.

[can I ask one question? good. how come all your "laying down" style parts are standing up? hairpinning and on-ending are usually reserved for tight spaces.]

Yeah. I don't know. No good reason. After I did the first one that way I decided to do them all that way.

I hope this is just the first building. Next: Replace the TS9 with an elaborated DIY version; build a DIY tremolo (the Tremulus Lune is one of the best and simple), then... we'll see.
What is that black pedal? Homemade?
