Why not simply include a clipping indicator? Then you'll know if any band is pushing the eq into clipping, and can limit the amount of boost at that frequency, and maintain the desired frequency curve by introducing cut in the other frequency bands. If you're looking for inspiration on a clipping indicator, look up the schematic for the current version of the MXR 10 band EQ.
