parallel universe, beta build 1:

Those are the innards.  There's a lot of stuff I plan to do with this, so that's not too accurate :D

Blackfire w/3-band EQ, painted by none other than Troubled Tom:
The paint job is abolutely wicked. You can't see it in the photo but there is a transparent overcoat that looks like clear leather skin. Pulsating LED too!

Inside of something, don't remember what. I think it was a fuzz-face I made for someone but changed the circuit to something else:

"The Blob" -- a custom overdrive unit. Knobs are recessed into the woodburned oak coverplate. Brass plaque.

Obsidian prototype, no LED so I always forget to remove the cord, and the battery runs out :)

Inside of Obsidian, showing the hand-soldered surface mount board:

2-knob Blackfire, which has the extra inverting stage that my first one won't have until I rebuild it. This is a total Home Depot job. It uses "thumbscrews" for the battery door which thread right into the switch box:

That's what I could find on the HD. Sorry for the bad quality, my camera sucks!

wow!  great site.  i can't speak or compose a lick of it, but it's nice to know I can still read spanish.

i particularly liked the the finishing article:

http://www.pisotones.com/Articulos/Mecanizacion.htm

the battery door idea is one of those "why didn't i think of that" things that's simply terrific.

Last small fx pedal I made.

Case bought in supermarked. Produced by Polish manufacturer.

Manolo, I saw a battery door like yours in a DIY effect at teh local music store.. now I know where they got the idea! Good one! :)

junction box builds... I still have 3 or 4 pedals built, but not boxes (been REAL lazy).

PS - Manolo, how do you do the lettering on your boxes, it looks amazing!

Mark Hammer

Bill,

So THAT's why you're still driving that car.  NOW I get it.

Nice work all of you.

If I can speak on behalf of knob manufacturers everywhere, there is hope!!

I love the "Minnie Driver" moniker.  What we never talk about much here is the art of of dreaming up names that allude to or suggest the original but do not name the actual pedal cloned.  Part of it is fun (guess the pedal), part hommage and modesty (close but could never be as good as the real thing), and part a desire to avoid litigation.

Recent fits of naming in the Hammer household:

Slice o' Pi  (BMP)

Juicer (Orange Squeezer)

Clean Sweep (Modded Bi Filter Follower)

Ge Whiz (Rangemaster)

Purple Phaze (Ross Phaser)

Thanks to all who praised pisotones.com but I have to admit that the credit on the battery door is not mine but from Rubén Hernandez, the other half of Piso-tones Ltd. He got the original idea and is reponsible of all the mechanizations, painting and silk-screening.

I'm only responsible for the "ugly" electronics and guts. Rubén *is* a true artist.
