Is there anyone who can give me a quick run down on getting started with tube amps?  Or maybe a site that would help.  I just need to know some of the basics about tubes, transformers and such.  I looked around ax84.com but couldn't really find a page like I was looking for.  Any help is appreciated.

AX84 has a good page on safety for starters:

I'm not sure how much you need to know about tubes and transformers per se, just to get started. I would start with more of a *connect-the-dots* kit approach and pick up what you need to know as you go. The AX84 site offers kits, and for a more upscale level check out:

For a nice "how a tube works" page, check out:

In the mean time practice keeping one hand in your back pocket

If you already have a tube amp, learn to bias it etc... Learn to do things safely.

Read as many books as you can about tube amps. Hit AMPAGE.ORG and AX84 and ask questions.

If possible, get a small amp to mod first.
