@badoogie, with my old second-hand Boss GE-7 I had the same problem you had with the GE-6, and had always assumed that it was the ridiculously dated Op-Amp ICs for the frequency sliders. I rarely used it due to the noise.

Texas Instruments had already listed those particular OpAmps as "not suitable for new designs."

The new GE-7s don't have this noise issue on the frequency sliders, and Boss now actually advertises the new pedals as low-noise. I'd reccommend giving one a shot, as in addition to losing some unwanted noise, you'd also add an additional frequency band and master volume control to your tools there, too.
