Continuity when Debugging

Hi Guys

I'm trying to debug a circuit I've just finished (I'll post the schematic if I get really stuck) and I've just been doing some continuity checks with my multi-reader.  What I cant get my head round is why on my op-amps I get a positive continuity result on every pin.  Even between the 9v and ground.

Ive tried other continuity checks and I'm getting what I would expect.  I do have a cheap multi-meter but still... :icon_redface:

If I take an op-amp out then the continuity between the sockets has gone.

Anyone know whats going on or am I losing my mind.  I've never seen this before.

You're doing these tests WITHOUT power on the circuit right?

Continuity tests send out a small current from your meter to perform the test, so must be done without power on the circuit. Your meter could be seeing a connected battery/power source as a short.

Aarrhh.

Usually I've done it without power but this time I did it with.

I knew it must be something stupid.
