I am finishing up a build of the aion phobos and what I am hearing is:

When the tone knob is all the way down, its all bass (even more than I would expect with the tone knob off) and then instead of gradually increasing, its jumps up to more treble, and then jumps to more treble, and then smoothly increases as I would expect. (vid linked to show what I mean: https://youtu.be/GZ3eULyXzDI).

Any ideas what I have done wrong? I have built another one of these and the only difference I can tell is that I used a  1uf tantalum cap at C16 in the one not working (electrolytic in the working one). So I think this is just coincidence.

Here is a link to the schematic: https://www.dropbox.com/s/4xhwadzx2rxbm8z/aion-refractor-centaur-documentation-v2.pdf?dl=1

that pot is smoked. often a momentary short or something is all it takes, it burns thru the carbon track. the pot still works, kinda, but not right. will either have dead spots or act as you describe.
9volt batteries are only 9 volts, but have more than enough current to roast a pot.
replace it and you should be good to go bro
