Bypass works no go in active mode

I probed and have sound on pin 3 of top tlo72 and sound out on pin1 at times. it seems like i got a bad part,it plays for a little bit then nothing

Check this out;

Just noticed that the other end of that 3K3 resistor may be in the wrong position as well.

Also is there any chance of a picture of the board that is more 'overhead' than angled? It is difficult to see behind some of the components.

Possible wiring error with the Distortion pot;

This may get some of the voltages back to normal.

that one did it. works now. I went all over every thing twice. I have no idea how i missed that one!
I sure hope your around latter on. I'm working on the Wampler Triple Wreck. I got the boost board done waiting on parts to finish the main board. I'm looking for a pedal for a heavy metal distortion. I built the -the box of rock-the gov'nor-hells gain-plexi plus-the rat-love pedal-custom badass 78-and now hyper metal. any suggestions on a real heavy metal distortion?

another question if I may.
Do you think I would gain any thing by putting a 2sk117 or 2sk170 in for q1?  or changing q2 to q4 to something different then 2n3904's?

Good news!  :icon_mrgreen: Another one working. The HM-3 is very similar to the HM-2 which has been quite popular for Death Metal and the like. I love my HM-2. Great tones and you do wonder how on earth the guitar could possibly make the noises coming out of it. Play with your HM-3, you may get some sleep eventually...
And now you are building the Triple Wreck. A new definition of Heavy Metal may be soon required if you keep going. At the moment I can't think of any other pedal you may wish to try but I am sure that others here on the forum will have some good suggestions.
Don't feel bad about missing the wiring error. As I said before, it happens to all of us. The biggest problem is as you get close to completing a build the excitement level increases (new toy to play with - hurry up) and silly errors creep in. Just take your time and verify what you are doing. We are always happy to help. It's a great forum with some extremely talented people here.

The JFET is only a buffer. There would be no real improvement by using a 2SK117 or 2SK170 but there is no harm in trying them (if you can find them). The 2N3904s are used as gyrators in the EQ circuit and should not really have any benefit to changing them. But why not experiment, you never know. Keep in mind that genuine 2SC3378-GR are also hard to find.
