need replacement for 2n5458 for a Keeley Katana Boost

Looking to build a Keeley Katana Boost. it calls for 2 - 2n5458. but can't find them any where. What could I use to replace them?

Most standard JFETs will work there. The 10K trimmers to set the Drain bias makes things so much simpler.
Replacements for 2N5485 - J201, BF245B, MPF106, 2SK30A, 2SK117, 2SK118, 2N5292...There are others but just grab what you can and try it.

You can look for MMBF5458. It's a smd version of the 2N5458.

I think we will buy only jfet smd version very soon. I never do it until now, but I'm sure that it's not a problem to work with them.
I see that smd are less expensive, and we can buy the mini PCB to solder it and even the angle pins, if we need it.

Many JFETs would work okay but result in a circuit with higher gain, since most JFETs seem to have a forward transfer admittance higher than the 2n5458.  Still, it probably wouldn't be enough to cause distortion if it's running on 18v.

That being said, it looks like 2n3819 is probably the closest match and is still available in through-hole at JAMECO if you wanted to go that route...

Various adaptor boards are available on eBay. Search for SOT23 adaptor.
Most of the china supplied boards place the Gate on the centre pin. Keep that in mind.

These adaptors place the Gate onto an outer pin. Which can be very handy.
