Hey,

I'm trying to build a noise floor. According to this picture, all you have to do is remove 1 or 2 components.

I used this layout, and removed the 2.2M resistor and the second 100n cap.

When I take the components out, there is no sound. When I put them back, I get a functional Soda meiser. When I take out only the 2.2m resistor, I get lower gain and a lot of hiss. It doesn't sound like the demo.

Am I supposed to bridge the component locations or just take those components out?

I shouldn't entirely remove 2M2 resistor (or short it) 'cause I'd leave BJT un(mis)biased..

Try to remove 100nF cap or lower enough its value or place a big resistor in series with it..

Then you can "play" with 2M2 value..

All of those noise and chaos mods sound like real ass.  Put them on a toggle like Antonis is suggesting.  I don't even bother with the 2.2M resistor "mod"..  I just recently got my home built Test Pattern going, and lifting the 100n cap is about the only thing that's enjoyable, and it only sounds "good" with the intensity in a certain area and turning the guitar down a little.

I've tried all the ones from those schematics,  the Torns, the USA, the VFM.. etc. They all sound bad and don't really leave the pedal super operational.

Hmm interesting, I'll try out those mods thanks for the suggestions. I also realized I used a 200k pot for the intensity instead of a 100k, and saw its not like a normal input pot where the lug 1 goes to ground, maybe that has something to do with it.

The switches sound cool here, but I didn't get these results, did the mod sound like this for you guys?

So the bottom switch in that video is definitely removing the 100n as in the schematic. That part works and sounds like that from my experiences, the other switch, you pull the 2.2m and it doesn't sound like that at all.   As I recall it didn't even really work.

None of mine sounded exactly like that.  Bergs does a good demo though.

Ah glad to know it's not just me! I'll keep fitzing around with it and try not to set anything on fire

I could say that Soda Meiser has "serious design flaws" but it actually never burnt my house not poisoned my dog-(PRR copyright) so I mitigate to highlight that 100nF NFB cap actually "sucks" most of incoming signal..!!

IMHO, its value should be much lower than input cap value divided by individual stage gain..
