I've built it slowly and carefully and still nothing.I measured the voltages and I'm not even getting 9v to the 7805 inputs something wrong there maybe the wrong value resistor.
Any ideas?
thanks

OK took out the 10k and 33R to measure and they are right .I used a 1n5819 diode but the diode is passing voltage.

I get 1.5V on pin1 of the regulator and 0.5 at the output. Could the 100uF cap be bad?

the regulator is wrong.....are you using 7805?. or 78l05.

the pinouts are reversed for 7805.

should have 9v in , 5v out...make sure of this, dont fry your brick which only wants 5v...

I'm using the small one 78L05 I believe.Let me see if I can upload a pic.
Thanks again Astronaut

Thanks for the help but I've just buggered up a board trace ,I'm losing my touch.Later I'll try making my own board ,I think I have the PnP for it and give it another try.

I think your C10 is fitted backwards to the silkscreen, but my eyes hurt so I can't be sure.

Good one duck_arse, C10 was backwards.I will send dead astronaut another payment soon and get another pcb I really do want to make this one work, but like I said the traces started to peel off .I will unsolder the parts (not the resistors) and put them in a baggie for later.
Thanks to all.

As I was going to take the parts off I decided to do last ditch surgery replaced the burnt traces with resistor leads and got it going albeit still not functioning properly then I noticed the voltage dies after R22,it goes from 9.5 to 1.8 why?...... and check my value its right and then I noticed the stuffing guide is slightly off and that resistor is supposed to be 33 R I think I may have found the mystery missing voltage I will try switching those resistors and see.I almost destroyed the whole thing in a fit of soldering rage but one more try wish me luck.

Ok voltage after the regulator 4.98V and power is getting to the brick.Pins 1 of the Tlo72 3V something tells me I have another resistor switched  so better a fresh build than keep flogging this one.Learn from the  mistakes and move on.
THAnks to Deadastronaut and duck_arse.

looks ok,
Does the guy above C18 points on GND, Rob..??  :icon_redface:

I built a couple of these previously, and had a similar issue.. the voltage drop was keeping the JFETs from switching properly.  There is a thread in here someplace.

My solution was to replace R22 with a 680uH choke.  If you don't have one, just omit R22, and jumper it!
