Pot losing ground?

Hey,
I boxed up a Fuzz Face the other night, only a volume pot, no LED, no DC.

The pot was losing ground connection, so the volume would jump to maximum (only a slight series resistance HF decrease when counter clockwise down)

I jiggled it a bit and it was intermittent
reflowed all joints on the pot, and where it was grounded to the output jack
Tested grounding the pot casing
replaced the wire
replaced the ground connection to the input jack
Nothing really helped
Then I replaced the pot and it seemed better.

with the new pot and new wire, the issue only happened once as I was refitting into the chassis.
Did a shake test, all good. Hasn't happened since.

Anyone experienced this?
I have a feeling I haven't addressed the issue properly, and it might happen in the middle of a gig.

Thanks

I've had similar problems occasionally. Check the connection of the pot lug to the pot. They are effectively riveted to the pot and if the connection is a little loose they can be intermittent. Sometimes moving the lug a bit is enough to make the connection more secure but I've gotten reasonable results by re-tightening the connection by squeezing with a pair of pliers.

make sure there's no paint insulating it, sometimes i think the ground comes more from the downpressure outside the peda enclosure than inside from the casing hitting the box.
