Any el34 saturation emulation circuits out there?

Hello,

I use a Mesa Triaxis tube preamp and record direct. There are some like Acapulco Gold and Sonic titan that market themselves as power amp distortion. I was thinking about this.

Triaxis > Acapulco Gold (with input trim to prevent overload) > Cab Sim

Is this an alright thing to do? Are there other circuits better suited for do an EL34 type of distortion after a tube preamp?

Thanks

both of the circuits you mentioned use the LM386 amplifier chip which gives a gnarly, lo-fi, distortion sound when overdriven. Give it a shot, your ears will decide.

I've built the sonic titan and I really like it. Great for the classic rock style distortion.  I love using it to play Limelight. Planning to try the Acapulco Gold at some point.

OK I've been testing overdrives after the tube preamp all night.

I tried 5 pedals:
Blues Driver - Distorts too much too soon, but good high end
Super Overdrive - Much smoother, but way too much midrange, since post saturation already shaves off a ton of high end.
Dead Man's Hand - Tube screamer ish pedal, again not enough high end
Cerberus Overdrive - Boring sounding
Euphoria - Absolutely stunning, it sounds so close to power tube saturation, you can crank the gain to 10, and it'll still sound good. Perfect for simulating EL34s.

To make it better, I'll be adding EQ after the euphoria.

So no need to incorporate a power amp and attenuator to my rig anymore.
