I use the TT P09x series (9mm), both for PCB and breadboard. https://www.mouser.com/datasheet/2/414/P09x-1545427.pdf

They are conductive plastic, and there's a lot online to read about cermet vs carbon vs conductive plastic. I'm inclined to think the material matters more than the size, though it seems possible some materials handle miniaturization better than others.

The P09x have a life rating of 100K cycles. Curious, I compared to a random 9mm Alpha, which was rated for 5K - 10K cycles. It's been awhile, but I think I remember 10K being typical for carbon, and cermet and plastic being generally rated higher.

The plastic element also has a smoother feel. Tastes vary, but I like it.
